Need to share your screen with someone for support or collaboration? Chrome Remote Desktop is a simple and free way to securely give someone access to your computer.
We regularly use it with colleagues and clients because it’s easy to set up, reliable, and works across different devices and operating systems.
How to set up Chrome Remote Desktop
01. Visit the Chrome Remote Desktop website
Go to remotedesktop.google.com and follow the prompts to install Chrome Remote Desktop.
If you already use Google Chrome and are familiar with browser extensions, installation is quick and works just like adding any other extension from the Chrome Web Store.
02. Sign in with a Google Account
You do not necessarily need to use Chrome as your browser, but you will need a Google account. If you don’t already have one, Google will guide you through creating an account before you can continue.
03. Generate a sharing code
After setup, go to: remotedesktop.google.com/support/ and click Generate Code to create a one-time access code for your session.
04. Connect remotely
The person joining your session simply visits the same page: remotedesktop.google.com/support/. They then enter your code to connect to your computer.
Once connected, they can view your screen and, if you allow it, control your computer remotely.
